What I want
Text: Eithne
I want to be the only one left on the planet and not pick flowers for their graves,
I want to discover the secrets of the world without being watched,
I want to feel the dew under my bare feet and run 8 miles with no goal,
I want to have a picnic in the pouring rain and eat ice-cream in mid-winter,
I want to embrace the cold waves of the stormy sea, alive,
I want to play hide-and-seek and fly a kite, not being too old,
I want to build a snow-man although there are no children around,
I want to sleep under a tent of stars on a forest bed,
I want to search for the end of the rainbow and live in a fantasy world,
I want to catch leaves in an autumn storm and blow dandelions into the air,
I want to sing out loud at the beauty of the world,
I want to be manic and maybe I am.
I laugh and laugh and laugh until I can't draw breath,
I'm able to marvel at wonders and to love without fear.
Just because I want to.
