At the peak of the financial crisis, Obama invites Putin to a luxurious dinner in Washington. Putin, impressed by the event, asks Obama how he paid for it, considering that times are rather tough.

"Well, Mr. Putin," Obama says, "look out that window. See that bridge? We saved quite a bit of money on its construction, and a portion of that savings helped fund this party."

A few weeks later, Putin invites Obama to Moscow for a dinner much more extravagant than the one in Washington.

"Mr. Putin," Obama says,"this is a really great party! Where in the world did you find the money for it?"

"Well," Putin replies, "look out that window. Do you see a bridge?"
